Joe Sakic is injured yet again. It's been a rough year for the Captain, who spent considerable time contemplating whether to return to the Avs this season. (Associated Press photo.)
Another aging Denver star has a back problem. It was revealed yesterday that the Captain, Joe Sakic, will miss at least six more weeks of action while he tries to heal a herniated disc that was originally injured nearly a month ago. Sakic has tried to play through the pain of late but it just hasn’t been working. The Avs have not called anyone up to replace Sakic’s spot on the roster.
Colorado has gone 5-4-0 without Sakic and have 16 of their next 26 at home, so hopefully the club can work through this period without Captain Joe. Either way, it probably isn’t the way Sakic envisioned this year going when you consider how long and hard he thought about retirement over the summer.
[...] As I said before, probably not the way that Sakic saw this year going. [...]
